To "clean up" the userbar, maybe we could use drop down menus?

The Profile, Usergroups, Memberlist, Private Messages, Log Out could all be grouped into a single menu link "Member Tools".

Is it a good idea?

I like clicking on each of those buttons in one click instead of two. Maybe group some other buttons that are not so urgent together? Like the calender and gallery buttons.

Java or not, i think its possible. Maybe this should be implemented next time as there are more useful changes that can be made to this forum.

This is a good idea. I agree fully. How could Aryan make it work though?

As was said you most likely need to this with the function coding using java script.

Although there may be a way using a code like this for html.

Code:

<select id="Menu" on click=(imput url web pages)>
<option> Arcade</option>
<option> Gallery</option>
<option> Music Playlist</option>
</select>

What you come up with is this:

Just replace the text with a url link including phrases ("), and it might work Aryan.

A basic drop-down menu like what you've displayed isn't really what I had in mind, a more "flash" DHTML menu would look waaaay better.

Or, it would look waaay better as it is. Honestly, its a dis-convinience to have one. Unless you have a "view new posts" Button, that would help.

I displayed an html menu which is the language of this website. I prefer those flash menus too. I know what you are talking about, but that would require java or some other flashscript. GV uses html language coding. It can be done, but could this would require lots of work for the website to allow it to play DHTML menu.

Thanks for the suggestion but as A2L has just posted - I don't think that the website and it's members will allow flash.

DHTML is "Dynamic HTML". It's a form of HTML that most modern PCs can run. Websites such as Google use DHTML for pop-ups that can't be blocked.

Let's see what Aryan has to say.

The website doesnt allow flash? o.O

Will this code work?

Code:
<object width="550" height="400">
<param name="movie" value="somefilename.swf">
<embed src="somefilename.swf" width="550" height="400">
</embed>
</object>

I got this from a site, and use embed flash files quite frequently in my webpages and blogs.

Maybe Aryan can test it on a seperate HTML page within the domain.

After reading the new sub-title for the forum...

Quote :
Game News ~ Cheats ~ Downloads ~ Walthroughs ~ Trailers ~ Reviews

This could be used as a drop down menu. The cheats could drop down to each console's forum...non-drop down words could be linked to their own forums/threads.

How about it?

We are getting new buttons for the forums, please be patient.

As for your suggestion about the subititle, AJ:
I would have to disagree. Sometimes you gotta know when to stop. Simplicity is the answer and newcomers could find their way just fine without all these confusing link-backs.

The website will be updated with New Navbar buttons soon.
I was thinking of picture buttons or even flash buttons too, but right now we have a lot of different images and scripts on each page. A complete flash set could really make opening a page slower, and nobody is enough patient to wait these days.

Yeah, the forum main page takes ages to load. The new buttons look nice though, and don't seem to affect the loading.Smile

They are good, but that isn't really what I've been suggesting. This thread is for the drop-down suggestion for the menu bar.
